The XXIX Summer Universiade, commonly known as Taipei 2017 Universiade, was a historic milestone for Taiwan. Represented as Chinese Taipei, the host nation achieved an extraordinary record of 26 gold, 34 silver, and 30 bronze medals—totaling 90 medals and securing a prestigious third-place global ranking.
Following this major international event, the President of the National Taiwan University of Sport (NTUS)—a premier institution in Taiwanese athletics located at the "National Taiwan University of Sport" station on the Airport MRT—recognized a critical need for modernization. During the Universiade, while the physical venues met international standards, the internal wayfinding and signage systems proved challenging for foreign athletes, who often had to rely heavily on translators and guides.
In a high-level consultation with the President and the Board of Directors, a decision was reached to initiate a long-overdue brand revitalization for the entire campus. Given the academic nature of the institution, the project focused on the "University Crest" rather than a commercial logo. The objective was to preserve the school's traditions and core spirit while imbuing it with a modern aesthetic that aligns with contemporary global standards.
